The brown is rust. Can even look like sand. I've pulled bits of wire our of my block before. Remember those radiator hoses with coil springs inside them to stop the hose from collapsing? They can rust apart and get everywhere when the coolant isn't working anymore and should have been changed years ago.Oil in coolant floats. If you have an overflow bottle it will collect inside it and coat the inside with oil. It looks and smells like motor oil. If it's a major oil leak it will mix up and look like chocolate milk in the radiator but most of the time when it leaks is that bad it goes the other way, coolant in the oil and it's the motor oil that will look like chocolate milk.You car sounds like normal to me. Flush it out really good, flush out the radiator and the heater core too.
