so I am still considering getting this 65 dart , but just yanking the slant six and busted 904 and going straight for the v8 heart transplant. I already have a bunch of stuff i need, but i need some wisdom from you guys before i go pulling the trigger. Heres a few questions, answer as many as u like.
1) Budget LA 318 build: I am wondering what kind of compression you would yield from an LA 318 if you used the cheapo low compression cast pistons( available pretty cheap at autozone last time i checked), but topped them up with the closed chamber 1967-68 heads. I have several pairs of these heads Ive been holding on to, and a good running 1972 318 engine.
2) Would exhaust manifolds that fit into a 318 equipped 1967 barracuda fit into a 65 dart with 318 or is too tight.
3) 4 speed: I have a 1967 a-body 4 speed and correct 4 speed pedals for a 65 dart. My question is about bellhousing fit. As I recall the early 273s had a funky miniature flywheel/clutch setup. does that mean I am stuck with that setup regarding trans tunnel fit or would a newer bellhousing fit in there. I have a newer bellhousing but maybe it won't fit.
