I did say 'oversize'...
Just reopening this, the regular studs for flanged axles fit the older-style tapered axle hubs. So you can use these to enable you to dispense with the swaging of the studs to contain the brake drum. Whether you use some other method of retaining the drum or not is another matter, I wouldn't bother.
I also mentioned that the later pickups etc had a longer stud, these might be handier for use with alloy wheels with long barrel nuts etc.
