I would have the exhaust manifold surfaced – most any auto parts with a machine shop in the back will surface manifolds at a very reasonable cost. And would lean towards a gasket
myself, with copper spray if anything. Have you seen the Permatex product selector – it leads you to either the copper spray or copper RTV if you have a gasket – the copper RTV with no gasket….. Have used both products,
