Re: Max wedge 3 speed transmission

His name is Verlin McNeese. I asked him what happened to the rear third member?  He said it was long gone-didn't know where.  He was also telling me that  it was the original axel housing and differential  but it had been beefed up with Chevy axels. He didn't know if they were truck axles or what  He may be confused with something eles--it has been over 40 years ago.  I have never heard of such a thing. But also there were probably no place to get aftermarket  stronger axles.  It has been a interesting and fun to dig up this old story........................MO

I found out what happened to the Max wedge today. The story gets even crazier.  Early  70's a guy I know bought the whole car.  He took the engine out  and  was going to put it in a  65 Belvedere with a 4 speed behind it to  local circle track race.  Rules said no two fours even if they were stock . He overhauled the engine  and then could'nt find a 4 barrel intake to match the head ports!  IMAGINE THAT!!!!LOL   Remember this was early 1970's.  He lost interest  and traded the whole thing for a bunch of 340 Mopar stuff that he said turned out to be junk.  The Body  was turned into the salvage yard--long gone. He could not remember who he traded with--someone from Northern Missouri.  He was somewhat embarrassed in telling me all this--  knowing what Max Wedge stuff  is worth these days LOL      Another one bites the dust.....................................MO
