Re: LaRoar still having problems

Yep, I did this with starter fluid. Also this involves 2 different intake manifolds and these  heads had been run successfully for about 10K miles previously. I have blocked all vac ports incl the heater controls, vac adv and my gauge. I didn't block the PCV port. I can try that too.  But it was running fairly good and then took a dump after which I did all the part swapping to see what went wrong. Even if it's a leak, why is the left bank not firing well while the right bank seems to be ok. And the compression is quite equal on all cylinders.

Thanks for joining in the search.

I've been reading these post about the problems that La Roar is having so I think I'll put my 2 cents worth in. I'm almost sure there is a vacume leak. I think that the intake might have been cut making it too narrow or the heads have been cut to much causing a mismatch between the intake and heads. There is 1 quick and easy way to check this and any other leaks on the top end. Start the engine and let it warm up. Then take a small handheld propane torch and with the engine still running, turn the gas in the torch on but don't light it. Use the tip of the torch with the gas still on and go around the carb, both sides of the intake and all of the ports or any other threaded plugs or any place you might have a leak. If you have any, this will let you know where it's at. If you find one, the RPM will increase because the propane will be sucked in. Hope this helps.
