Re: 64 dodge 330 max wedge

Jim,

Thanks for the great advise.  Darrell Davis was actually the first person I spoke to about the car.  He verified it for me and my car is in his book!  He and Greg Lane are amazing sources of information on max wedge cars.  I don't think anyone could come up with a question or a part, they he or Greg don't know.

Thanks, I will do my best to keep the group posted as the car makes progress.

Hi Rob,

Awesome car.

If you don't already have it, I'd suggest you pick up a copy of Darrell Davis's 1964 Ramcharger book.  Great source of info.  Your car's VIN will be listed in it.

See below from Kramer:

I'd also suggest getting the build card from Chrysler Historical while you still can.  For $40 they'll send you a copy of the IBM card for your car along with a letter and decoding info.  Good to have.

FYI, the build card will have a serial number for your car that is stamped on your radiator support and underneath the rear window package try frame.  Another level of confirmation and marries the car stamps to the VIN.

No aluminum.  This is how I bought the car.  Thought it was just a reasonably clean drag car. Once I started pulling it apart, I found out it was a max wedge car.  after some media blasting, here it is now.  Lots of fabrication and patch work being done now.

Were you fortunate enough to have the aluminum parts with it?  That would be awesome.

Hi guys. I bought the car about 1+ years ago.  It was amazingly solid.  Just really cut up.  I think the previous owner only owned a cutting torch and pop rivets.  I just purchased a real stage 3 intake and found an amazing deal on the 3705sa carbs.  Long ways away from finished, but making progress.  I am posting the progress on forbbodiesonly as well.  If anyone is on there, you will be able to see progress as I make it.  Long story short.  the 2 previous owners "thought" it was a real light weight max wedge car, but didn't know how to prove it.  I was planning to build a straight axle gasser with it originally.  once I found out it was a real MW, I changed my plans.

My plan is to build it as a "day 2" race car from the 60s.  I will paint it original EE1 dark blue.  i'm putting a super stock interior in it, with rear seat delete.  I know super stocks cars and rear seat deletes didn't get big until the hemi cars, but I love the interior of those cars. If I can actually find history or owners of the car, I would re paint it to race version, but to this point I have not been able to find anything on the car prior to 1980.

I've had to repair alot of bad work.   I would post pictures here, but It appears all my pictures exceed the maximum pixels.  I will try to get some things posted at some point..

Rob
