OOps , I forgot to say what I really wanted to say. Can somebody pleeeze point me in the direction of detailed directions of how to actually get in through the mousehole and push that lever off the starwheel, so u can loosen it. All I find on different discussion boards is the whole " tighten it down till wheel won't move, then back off till u feel a slight drag"....... ( or some say one free revolution)..... blah, blah blah, I know all that. what I don't know is how you are supposed to back off the dang starwheel. I mean am I wrong and you don't actually need to push the lever off the starwheel?? I always thought u had to do that to free up the starwheel teeth so it will loosen. Is there a special tool for this? I have the "brake tool" but that's what you turn the starwheel with.

Thanks for the animation GARY, that helps a little. This conversation reminds of my friend Harlan from childhood, who would never tighten his brake cables on his ten speed, so as his brake pads wore down, he had to pull those brake levers further until they eventually would just bottom out on the handlebars. Same principle.Brake pads wear down you need to cinch up the cable. Brake pads wear down you need to cinch up the adjusters.Neal

If your Dodge gets consistently slower then you know every time you press your brakes to a stop going forward the brake shoes are getting adjusted closer to the drum. :)
Thanks,
