Re: Adjusting/Lubing 65 Floor Shifter Linkage/Cables

Like Gary said, disconnect the cables at the shifter, then if it's a shifter problem it will be obvious. Repairing that should be fairly simple. If it is the cable, you'll need to disconnect them from the tranny and either clean and lube or replace them. New cables are available. I think releasing the cables from the trans is like my '64ragtop. I can send the stuff relating to that from my manual if you need it. A '65 FSM would be mighty handy.

I'd disconnect the cable at the shifter and test the movement of the cable and the shifter independently. Odds are it is a cable issue.

Please address private email -- email of interest to only one person -- directly to that person. That is, email your parts/car transactions and negotiations, as well as other personal messages, only to the intended recipient. Do not just press "reply" and send your email to everyone using the general '62-'65 Clubhouse public email address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine-tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
