Re: Putting Rams on a 300L Rag Top

Dave, here are a few photos of the Chrysler Long Ram manifold. I believe my info to be correct as best as I have it.

The Long Ram 30" photo 1 was used on Plymouth & Dodge 361, 383, & 413 engines, and Chrysler 413 300H.

The Short Ram 15" photo 2 was used on the Chrysler 413 300J & 300K models.

The Short Ram Log 15" photo 3 was used on the 413 & 426 Max Wedge 62' to 64' with a variation each of the 3 years.

Both manifolds are 30" tubes but you will see by the photo that the 30" has a crease from the head port all the way to the carb base. The short ram 15" the crease is only half way from the head port. The internal plenum length was changed as well as the exhaust manifolds which are boxed similar to the first Tri-Y manifolds. I used this short ram 15" manifold & exhaust on my 61' Fury 413 Sonoranic Commando.

Subject: Putting Rams on a 300L Rag Top

Hi Gary,
Happy New Year! Just before the holidays I was able to procure a set of short rams with the carbs and linkages. Stampings show that it was originally used/intended for a '62-'63 Max Wedge car.

I've heard from the 300 Club that rams were offered by a few dealers on the 300L. Some buyers wanted a faster car, dealers had left over inventory, viola!

Who in the '62-'65 Mopar would be knowledgeable about installing this onto my 300L's 413ci wedge? While we should be okay on clearance, I suspect there might be some necessary tweaks to keep the fuel from burning too rich, etc. Curious about what other "watch outs" we should be looking for and any tips members can offer.

Or should I just do a general posting to the group?

Either way, will certainly be getting pics of the car off to you once the salt's off the road for the Mopar of the Month. Can't wait!!

Warmest regards,

David M.
