Re: Car stalls when I hit the brakes

Hi,

Too  low as when measuring  how far down they hang in relation to the edge of  carb top?   Move them up a tiny bit so they don'thang down as far?  Low would seem  to  shut needle sooner if I can imagine howit works in my  head.

Do you suppose it could be the float level set too low????  Maybe shutting off the gas when it's splashing around in the bowl??

This  again.

It still does it.   Not vacuum booster.  It's  blocked off.  I rebuilt carb and float levels looked good.  Runs  great.

Carb had rust from tank.  I cleaned it all out and installed  fuel filter.

So,  it could  be the pump?

Could tank rust  effect a pump  so that pressure drop  causes it to stall when I hot the brakes,

It's  the  Carter  2bbl   BBD.

Tommorow  I'll take off the pump and have a look.

Thank you.

I got the 300 brakes situation worked out pretty well.

With new plugs, cap/etc, and wires the engine sounds pretty good.

On a short test drive when I hit the brakes the engine will stall.  If I come to a real easy rolling stop then it's fine.

I turned the engine idle up higher then normal out of curiosity and it still stalls.

What could this be?  Timing?  Carb needs rebuilt?

Thanks
