Cory & Others,
This makes me "remember when". And for those of you old enough to remember the winter of 1964, my brand new 1964 Sport Fury, cruised it every night to the local drive-in's, back then we called it "posing out". Bought snow tires for the car, ( didn't worry about back spacing), drove it through snow just to hang out with the crowd. Got a little dirty, no problem, drove it to the local ROBO wash, .25 cents for a wash, .10 cents more for soap. One towel to wipe her down, mostly ice cause it was only 20 degrees out, no jacket on...that wasn't cool. It's the middle of winter, 64' clean hanging at the drive-in, looking boss, looking for Maria....no one near NYC was named Mary Lou....
Snow....no problem....forward to 2012 1963 Sport Fury, waiting for cruise night, checking the weather channel for rain, the threat of rain, the chance of rain or anything that would threaten all my trigger wash time. Still hanging out at the drive-in, now sitting in a chair with the hood open, we never did that, found Maria, traded her for Theresa cause Maria left finger prints from the popcorn. 62-65 Mopars with snow tires is an oxymoron.
Can you tell I have post hurricane Sandy cabin fever!

Hey guys, I know you've all been worried about me. But seeing as I live smack dab in the middle of the prairie, flooding and 100 mph winds are the last things I worry about. Although getting snow up to yer arse on any given day past December 10 is a real possibility. Just figured I'd lighten the subject a little.

Appreciate the fraternal concern. We voluntarily evacuated NJ since power/Internet/phones went down on Monday at 7:30pm. Power may take 7-14 days to restore although the politicos may be hedging their bets to protect their job security. The cars are parked out if harm's way and remain high and dry.Bigger concern is the family vacation house/rental my folks own which is/was oceanfront and very close to where Sandy made windfall. No clue if it's still there. Won't know until the roads are passable which could take a week or well longer. Very tough watching my folks starting the claims process with FEMA.Also concerned for friends/family in Long Island and NYC. A buddy stuck in lower Manhattan actually saw cars floating down the streets. Crazy.Parts if the East Coast sustained unimaginable damage that will have social, economic and political reverberations for years to come.Hope the rest of this group's members escaped Sandy unscathed.
