RE: Chrysler historical " build record" ?

Hi,

To your first question; yes, I have had great success getting a copy of my IBM card from Chrysler Historical…and am very happy with the results…the only issue I had is that in one case they provided the code for the delivery dealer, but couldn’t tell me the name and location of the dealership.

I think  you answered your second question. If you don’t care about it being correct and you don’t plan on selling it then don’t bother getting it.

On the other hand, I know someday I will be selling my car and having documentation is important. Fender tags can and are be reproduced, and so the IBM card is just one more piece of archival data that ties the VIN, to the fender tag, to the body numbers (which on my cars are not the VIN). As these cars become more valuable and people re-body them; the build card provides evidence that the car you are buying or selling is correct.  Additionally, the build card revealed a number of very interesting options that are not coded on the fender tag (they may also be on the build sheet if it’s not too damaged or missing).

I am glad this service is available to us so I took advantage of it…I don’t know if it will be available a few years from now….

Regards,

Hi guys has any one had success getting their  cars details

Ok Guys and Gals, I need help here, I do not understand the need for decoding a fender tag unless your ultimate goal is the sale or purchase of a vehicle, and the worry of it being correct.

If you already own the car, just look and see what color it is, check under the dash and see if there is a heater, look on the passenger door and see if there is a mirror, look beside the brake pedal and see if there is another pedal there.

check the engine number and see if it is correct year, look at your rear axle and check to see if it is a tapered axle,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if there is not engine or transmission, it will never be correct anyway and you can put what ever you want in it ,,,,,,,,,,,,, after 50 years of service the only thing original may be the tag in the first place,,,,,,,, so please explain why,,,,,,,,,
