Your thoughts are good,,,,,,, but if you do all this and still have a brake
problem, where are you going to go, you have changed multiple
things, and are not going to know if it is which new part or still one of the
old ones,,,,,,, best fix it before you start making more
changes,,,,,,,jm2cw

Hey
guys, this is kind of a continuation of a previous topic on my buddies '66
Newport, all drums. The brake pedal is super sensitive and will lock up the
wheels with almost no effort. Many suggested the booster was bad, and it
seems to be that way. This car still has the stock single master on it and
we'd like to do the dual conversion since we're under the hood
anyway.
Its my understanding that the '67 master and booster will bolt
up directly, and just leave me with some new lines to be made, not
a problem at all. I was going to source the parts from Rockauto,
with Cardone part numbers #503520 or #506121. The only difference is one
is listed "without Field installed Hydro-Vac", and the other "with
Field installed Hydro-Vac". From what Google is telling me, Hydro-Vac was
a dealer installed option to help with stopping. I'm assuming this
car doesn't have it since its a '66, so I would want #503520
(without), correct??
I first had called Prior Brake (listed in the
directory) for rebuild option and was quoted $150 plus the core cost of the
dual master, and they didn't have one in stock. This car is going to
Hershey Oct 12th so I figured I could just buy it all for cheaper and get
it quicker since there's no turn-around.
Thanks again,
-
