Well just in case anyone is interested I can tell/show you how to make some really unique push rods.  First you go in a parade with your old hot rod.  Then you rev up the engine to please the crowd.  Then you let 'er rip up to close to 8K to impress the cute girls.  Then you watch as the fan belts shoot out from under the hood and the engine begins to heat up.  Then you pull over, retrieve the belts, re-install the belts and go on your way.

However you notice the vacuum gauge is now oscillating.  Hmm too lean?  When you get home you pull the plugs and find that #6 is foouled and the rest are fine.  So you do a compression test and #6 has 125lbs with or without oil while the rest have about 170lbs.  So you pull the valve cover and WALLA #6 cylinder has blown the pushrods :-(  So then you pull out, with great difficulty, the pushrods and find the lifters are in place BUT the tip of the intake pushrod is not on the pushrod.  So you get an idea to insert a magnet and see if you can fish it out.  And being the lucky son-of-a-gun that I am I actually retrieve it all in one piece!!!!!!!!!!!   WooHoo.  Install some spare pushrods.  Re-adjust ALL the valves and I'll be darned it's running even better than it was before:-)

Yes I am truly one lucky guy.  Perhaps the moral of the story is not to rev it that high even if it'll go there.
