Some replys have left out that # 1 piston HAS
TO BE ON THE COMPRESSION STROKE or you easily could be 180 degree off And that
is not good.
leave your valve covers on and ok to have all
sparkplugs in. As mentioned Leave #1 sparkplug very loose or out with your
finger over the plug hole. When turning over the engine slowly, you will hear or
feel compression. Turn TDC mark on balancer forward or back a little ways
to line it up with the pointer. Now you are ready to run
wires...................MO

Just to confuse things further- Number 1
cap terninal can be any place you want it. With #1 piston at TDC on the
compression stroke You can put the dist in with the rotor pointed at any
terminal-- that would be fireing #1 sparkplug. . Be sure you know the
direction of rotor rotation before running the rest of your
wires!..............MO

Another thing to consider. Is it a Chrysler or
Prestolite dist? No.1 is different in the Prestolite.Odds are it's a
Chrysler unit. Just in case thing.

I took a photo from my book. Should work
for you.

I replaced my distributor cap and unplugged all the

Thought I had a diagram of how to replace them.
I have the firing order, but in what order do I plug the
spark plug
wires back into the distributor cap?
