Re: Torque Converter Leak Down Problem

Gary covered most of the usual culprits.  The dipstick seal is just an "O"ring.  The kickdown lever is a seal that is readily available and can be installed with a little trouble while the trans is still in the car.  Also check the shift cable and speedo cable for splits, tears, burned through holes in the sheating.  I've had leaks from all of these sources and can attest to the amount of fluid they can leak.

Hello,

I have been doing a search on the problem and it appears it is more
normal than a problem.

I have a 64 Plymouth 318 automatic.  I am getting a flood of fluid
under the car when it sits for even a short period of time.  I suspect
it is either one or all of these causing a problem:

Pan gasket

Dipstick seal  (need part number or suggestions for sealing it)

Shift cable seals (need part numbers or suggestions for sealing it)

Any other suggestions for when I get it up and start working on it?  I
am going to get it on jack stands in a couple of days.  The
transmission works great when it has fluid in it.  The last time it
was parked for a couple of months I had to add fluid to move the car.

Thanks for any assistance.
