You can jump the terminals on the relay. The red, and, I think the brown? On 4/18/2012 6:48 AM, Jim Altemose wrote:
I drove my 63 Polara 500 up to Manchester Connecticut (near Hartford) for an overnight trip. Now I'm stuck in the parking lot and it won't start. Battery and electric seem good; lights work and I have a jump box. The symptom is when I turn the key, the oil light comes on but nothing at all from the starter. No noise at all. I tried a different ballast resistor (I carry a spare). I tried re-seating all the connectors. I tried cleaning the battery terminals. I guess all that's left is the starter relay? I'm trying to find a local parts store that has one. I have a spare starter relay, but just realized it's the wrong one. The car has 2 blade connectors and 2 bolt connectors. The spare has 5 blade connectors. I guess I'm hoping someone has some bit of magic for me to try. - Jim Jim Altemose, Long Island, NY '63 Polara 500 (Max Wedge) '63 Polara 500 (383) '65 Belvedere I (Street Wedge) '71 Bronco
