Re: Voltage regulator

Short answer, No.  I'll send you a couple of files, they are not mine, but are in great detail.

Herb I believe he's done that, he has two "blue" wires connected onto one side of vr and one green on left side. It's like he did all that but put solid state vr on. I got the pigtail to connect the two blues, and te green into a connector for the newer solid state post 70s style vr. But now I'm worried about gauge lol. I would've never known if I hadn't researched horror stories. Can I just disconnect gauge and upgrade to new regulator and have my problems vanquished and be victorious?!

You can easily make that newer two field alternator work with your single field system with out changing anything on your car.  All you have to do is ground one of the two field leads and use the ungrounded one for the VR lead.  This can be done internally or externally depending on your confidence.  Additionally I would convert from your point type single wire VR to a solid state single wire Voltage Regulator sold at any box store.

Ahh I learned I must upgrade to post 70 regulator. Since they are transistor type, an are for the larger alt. now problem is finding a way to plug into it. I want it to look right but I don't think they sell pig tails for that
