Just keep in mind, your engine is internally balanced and newer engines are externally balanced. I believe you have a 361 right? So mounts for a big block wont be a problem use your factory mounts and your transmission is the first year that will bolt to the crank of the newer engines also, so your in luck there. Big block or small block your going to be OK on the mounts with your factory ones. Now, if you have a 318 in your car a Gen III HEMI is also Very Doable, and will bolt right in for the most part. Just remember if you change to a externally balanced engine you will have to get a B&M flexplate to use your old converter, or have a transmission shop convert the front section of your transmission to fit the newer converters that are for externally balanced engines. Bottom line it's veery dooable if they get the right parts combination otherwise you will have an annoying vibration.

But not bad really. Now I have it out...great....the shop the motor and frame were going to can't take it due to a Studebaker. It will work out. Worst case it will go in my driveway covered by a tarp. It will be out about 1 month before the car is finished with paint and it goes back in. The body shop wants to get a gently used motor from a newer truck or car....They said at the most it would cost is $1000 and it would be very low miles. They having something in mind but won't go any further but I'm to let them know by Wednesday. Now I am looking at what will fit in the car (IE hook up to the trans) Fuel and computer systems and wiring are easy stuff if you have a donor vehicle. Motor mounts would be fun too....And they won't tell me. I bet its a truck and they think it will all fit....hmmm? -- Eric Tacoma, WA 1962 Chrysler Newport 2 door HT -- -- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
