I'll throw in a tidbit that may or may not be relevant. On my 63 Polara, I replaced the sending unit with a new one from In-Line tube. The threaded connector from the sending unit was just a little bit shorter than the original. This caused the rubber boot on the factory connector to not seat as deep onto the threaded connector as it should. It seemed tight, but wasn't tight enough for a good connection. I trimmed about 1/8 inch of rubber off the boot on the factory wire, and it seated snug and sure. Works great several years later. Check your snugness. - Jim Jim Altemose, Long Island, NY '63 Polara 500 (Max Wedge) '63 Polara 500 (383) '65 Belvedere I (Street Wedge) '71 Bronco On Tue, Dec 13, 2011 at 8:45 PM, almostnew62 <bad60biscayne@xxxxxxx> wrote: > 1962 Newport.
