That good Eric, but we're talking Chrysler products here, they have always danced to a different tune. :-)

Hmmm seems like this argument has been going on several sites, some say for heat dissipation, some say to protect against rocks, some say to protect bending the lines.  I'll call GM tomorrow, maybe the people that build and design them can tell us one way or the other.

Nobody said that, but what I did say as they help to dissipate the heat.  I've seen brake fluid boil in a master cyl before...in a 66 Dodge Dart come to think of it.  I'm sure that rocks don't fly up in GM cars engine compartment much by the master cyl., so why else do they put them on the lines off the master cyl?

So I guess the brakes must overheat with out the coils.

They do put the coiled spring brake lines under the hood of many cars.  Open the hood of a 1975+ GM car....they are right there on the master cyl.  I know it's a GM and pron to fly apart, but that's not why the coils around the lines are there.  But the brake like that runs the body line under neath the car, the one exposed to rocks and road debris does not have the coiled spring thing on it.  --
