NO, I would have not,,,,,, but then again, I would have  not pulled a motor without the intent of doing a complete overhaul,
    The heads are better left alone if there is not a problem with them, the seats in them have built up a coating from the years of having lead gas ran through them, lapping the valves or messing with the seats will only cause faster wear due to todays lead free gas, if he messes with them he also will need to replace the seats,,,,,,
