Wellllll It's what....50 years old?  When it was built it didn't even have a warenty to speak of.  Not many cars of any make have 50 year old head gastkets.  Why not replace them, clean it up, check it for cracks.....replace the valves if you are going to drive it a lot.  I don't know if you can just buy gaskets for the head anymore.  But you will need a kit anyway unless you have all the rest already.
