Re: removing front windshield

I just went and looked at my 64 to get the order of removal for trim. First remove screws on the bottom interior trim piece at base of windshield, next go all around interior trim doing the same. On the exterior trim the fitst piece is the corner Y st top of roof pillar. Screws are under that lip toward inside of the car, as are the rest for the vertical pillar trim.  After all that is removed, you're left with the long horizontal trim pieces that are at the top and bottom of the exterior windshield. FSM says to use a "fibre wedge". That's not described in any more detail!!! I guess carefully pry it off. THEN, FSM says to seperate the gasket (there is kinda ditch in the rubber to get into there) with a fibre tool and pry gasket apart by twisting motion , loosen at all inner and outer corners and have trusty assistant help in supporting the glass as you push it out! Since it's broken you may just want to get knife and slice all around glass gasket. New ones are ballpark $100+. Maybe lay a sheet or something on inside and out of car in case it shatters. Ruth

Hi Group,

The front windshield on my 64 Dodge 440 is cracked.

What is the procedure for removing the chrome trim, gasket and glass?

Thanks for your help
