Re: 361 Engine suggestions

Zach, the "cap and rotor" ....  The "cap" is on top of the distributor, it's the thing that the spark plug wires go on, the other end of the spark plug wires go on the spark plugs.  The "Rotor" is the thing that spins underneath the cap that send the spark from the coil, through the points to the cap, through the wires to the plugs.  The cap and rotor get covered in crud and dirty.  If you don't go with electronic ignition you will also need to replace the points and set them correctly as well as the timing.  I don't have electronic ignition yet so I have no advice on who makes a better one.

Napa auto parts should have the rebuild kit for your carb.  Jerry on here somewhere restores carbs, and makes them as new again.  I think his prices are very reasonable.  You can E-Mail him a440plus6@xxxxxxxxx or maybe he will chime in.  I've not had him restore mine yet, so I can't say 100% he's a good guy, But I like the pics of his work, and he's a mopar guy...can't be all bad.
The only other thing I'd do is make sure to run pure gas with out alcohol in it.  I won't go into details, but our cars don't care for modern gas and like the old fashion stuff better.  http://pure-gas.org/ may help you find real gas in your area....if not, replace your old rubber fuel lines with the Vitron fuel lines or get one of the fuel lines from Napa from this guide.  http://www.napabeltshose.com/images/Barricade_Training_Final.pdf  Lots of good info.  Old rubber lines don't like the new gas, new lines will help with that problem, but in the end there are lots of problems with modern fuel that take some work to correct in our old cars.

I hope this helps.
