Yes I agree with dodger on this.  Just curious though, what did the 440 replace?  Was it a poly 318?

The upgrades are not required, however would be a  nice addition to the car, the stock alternator was adequate for normal use in it's day,,,, if you start adding to the car such thing as brighter headlights, stereo/amps, and so on,,,you will find that it is only breaking even on the charge, and even if you stay with what you have an electronic regulator should probably be added so as to keep lights even,,,,,
