A Bit of Progress Update

All, last week posted a pic of my 520 on the stand after we fired it up,
had some minor leaks which were fixed. This past Sunday my son and I
installed the engine in my 63 Dodge 330 2dr sedan. All went well until
we tried to tie the flex plate to the converter (which had 2 bolt
patterns). Put one bolt in finger tight and then tried to go to the next
and found out we had put the first one the wrong hole but as we were
turning the engine forward to the next hole every thing locked up. Took
the plugs out no difference. I have to back the engine up 90 degrees
but can't using the crank bolt. Any idea what has caused the lock up? If
need be and I don't want to do this unless absolutely necessary is pull
the damper and use the crank turning tool to get back to the first bolt.
My concern is what has locked the engine up.
Thoughts?
