How can I check out this motor A couple more questions,,,,,, what does it say on the
plate that is attached to the engine? it says it came from a truck, it
appears to have the car style heads , but be sure to check the crank flange
holes (6 not 8 holes).
it should be a direct bolt in as far as fitting, you will need
to use your existing motor mounts and exhaust manifolds, you may have to
tweak or adjust your kick down linkage a bit to make it work, as the rb
engine will have it stretched a little.
you will need a carburetor, air cleaner, fuel line from fuel
pump to carb, and a distributor, your cap and wires should work on
it, and depending on how much you want to cannibalize your 361, you may
need an intake bolt set as well. You will probably need to transfer
your pulleys and belts to this engine to accommodate the A/C, power
steering, alternator, and fan.
I will not even venture a guess as to what the CR will be
seeing as it was a truck engine and has been rebuilt as well. As far as
the fresh rebuild goes, the only thing working in your favor there is the fact
that the intake is loose, and you can should be able to see the back of the
intake valves as well as the exhaust since they are off as well, this may give
you an idea if they have been leaking or have excessive build up on them since
the rebuild,,,,,, I would also pull the spark plugs and inspect them as well,
with only a few thousand on them they should not be burnt down. Oh
yea,,,,,,, you will have to use the oil pan and pick up off of your 361 as
well. I am sure I have forgotten something, but all that I have
mentioned will have to be addressed for sure.,,,,,
