Gary,

If you have the shipper package the glass they will insure it and you
will get paid if it is damaged.  I have had items damaged in shipping
and was not able to collect because they "claimed" it was not properly
packaged.  This was by UPS, other carriers may not be that strict but
all of the large carriers are self insured and do not want to pay
claims.
