Topic: Stalling
Went driving last night. It stalls bad taking off now. I did the timing, just changed plugs...with the new plugs it was running 100x better at first. The old olds look like they were put on in the early 90s lol. Today my plug wires are coming in so I can try that. I'm changing fuel filter too for the hell of it. Now it doesn't happen all the time...sometimes it's awesome and idles fine and launches, other times it hardly stays running at a red light and I have to fondle the throttle to take off. I was wanting to take a trip today but idk if I want to with this problem. Any help would be great! Sent from my iPhone Topic: zddp
Thats a helpful reply. Thanks. Just talked to an engineer at work today, who builds race engines for several circle track guys around here where they are not allowed roller cams. He says the ZDDP is -- Doug, '63 Sport Fury 'vert
Woops,,, hit the wrong key......... This guy says the ZDDP is absolutely worth putting in. He's not just a paper engineer either,, he actually gets his hands dirty and watches his work perform on the tracks. That said,, I sure miss the old Mobil 30w oil. No worries with that stuff !! Doug, '63 Sport Fury 'vert
i have been using rotella diesel oil for 3 years now in all 3 of my hotrods with no other additives and have had no problems with cam lobes it has additives that regular gas engine oils no longer carry and has been my choice for diesels for 30 plus years,, From: Donnie Schanz Jr <dcs426@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2011 5:42 PM Subject: Re: zddp The ZDDP was formulated after the govt took it out of the oil. Most cars runs today run roller valve trains so it is not that important to them. Sure your car has 110,000 on it, but ALL the oil run thru it for the first 100,000 had the right blend of chemicals in it. STP oil treatment has some ZDDP in it. Comp cams break in lube does too. The point is, A FLAT TAPPET cam NEEDS this stuff EVERYDAY. Its the friction barrier that is now missing. New roller cam engines dont have friction on the camshaft. Hell, my 409 has a roller cam in it and I have oil restrictors in the back of the block so the heads get very little oil. Roller set-ups dont need it. Y ou guys need to understand that it is not up to the oil companies if they put the ZDDP in their oil, its up the Uncle Sam!!! If they are saying they it is in there, its probably such a small amount, that I am not risking it. ZDDP was formulated by Richard Clark and Dennis Kirban, who are turbo Buick guys. It is needed for the bearings in the turbos due to the fact they spin 30,000 rpms. You can get ZDDP on ebay or direct from Kirbans performance. This thread should be about where to get it, not if you need it. http://www.kirbanperformance.com/products/20/ZDDPlus+OIL+ADDITIVE.html Thanks Donnie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary H." <62to65mopar@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2011 3:53 PM Subject: Re: zddp Kendall GT Hi Performance and Valvoline Racing Oil were the two mentioned. I find this thread very interesting. I bought a 72 Charger Rallye 440 auto from the original owner with over 100 thousand miles on it. He took care of his oil changes when he should. He used Valvoline. Well ya know I am the kinda guy that has to take engines apart and make sure clearances are good and what bearings look like and blah blah. Well I decided to rebuild the engine and hop it up a little. I put over a 100 thousand miles on that care running Valvoline 20-50 before I did a general tear down on the engine cause I was gonna give it to a relative......engine looked as clean and almost as non worn as the day I built it......lifters and cam still looked almost new, of course it was a hydraulic, not a solid lifter engine. I just re gasketed it, painted it, installed it and let it go. Wish I still had that one.....was fun to drive. Just my 2 cents On Fri, Sep 16, 2011 at 10:27 AM, Joseph Bitterman
I changed my oil yesterday to Val vr1 20-50 nome of the parts houses had a wix oil filter for it :( so I used a mobil one...anywayyyss My oil pressure is awesome. Ive always had one ticking lifter, you can't hear it unless you get real close. I'm guessing that's not a bad thing. Sent from my iPhone
I found a couple zddp additive products at O'Reilly's. The one I choose is Rislone Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment. Not too expensive. I also use the Valvoline VR-1 20-50 racing oil. I did originally use Shell Rotella but changed when they dropped the ZDDP. I was gonna wire the valve open today...but which way is open? There's no marks or anything. If looking at the passenger side if the motor, is tilting it left open? Or right? That thing is driving me crazy. Sent from my iPhone

Thanks to Enzo and Mike L. I put the pn for the TorqueFlite transmission filler tube O-ring on the Tech page. I also have NAPA 1-74353 for the seal shown here: http://tinyurl.com/speedo-seal Does anyone have the part number or size information for the other external O-rings on the 727 PB trans? I'll post them too. Thanks, Gary H.
I also added the pn for the kickdown seal, thanks to Jimmy P. Thanks, Gary H. Topic: 727 trans tvl seal
Gary, The seal is the same on all the TF transmissions. On the post 65 models the seal resides in the shaft that accepts the shift lever. Mike LeFevre On 9/15/2011 3:21 PM, Gary H. wrote:

Thanks. No he can't attach a file that big size. The link that is at the bottom of that mail goes to http://skydrive.live.com/... = a video of a fellow flipping an off-road vehicle not Barracuda parts. He can put a new link pointing to the correct video. Anyway, the parts are located in Delaware apparently. My 2 cents is he should give the parts to a Mopar vendor rather than toss 'em in the dumpster. Thanks, Gary H .

No Ben, sorry. 62 Dodge and Plymouth only 4 door sedan and wagons interchange with each other. The 64 is a differnet beast. -- Eric Tacoma, WA 1962 Chrysler Newport 2 door HT
Well in that case if one does need the door window's I have that from my 64 polata parts car!!! Ruth
I'm sorry, I read that as DOOR interchange...not GLASS interchange. The GLASS will interchange...the DOORS will not. Sorry about that -- Eric Tacoma, WA 1962 Chrysler Newport 2 door HT Topic: Any thoughts guys?
Nice ride! I like the red side sweep. I'd put on the Torque Thrust wheels and drive it with a smile. Thanks, Gary H.
I'd Just do the wheels, but it's your ride !! Personally, I'm tired of the blacked out stuff.
