Re: Early 70's 413

Ray,

I have a pristine Poly four barrel cast iron intake manifold as well as a P600 three deuce so no problem on the manifold sourcing.

Did you receive my e-mail with all the reasons why to build a Poly?

Thank you,
Gary Pavlovich

OK, trying to sort out the various responses. So the water pump, oil pan,
oil pump, exhaust manifolds, & intake manifold, need to be changed, no
surprise there. That's exactly what I had to do with the poly that's in the
car right now, as it came out of a grain truck.

The heads need to be changed why? Because passenger car exhaust manifolds
are unavailable that fit those heads? Or? Something else that prevents the
use of say custom headers? Maybe you can't use those heads with a normal
passenger car intake?

Are parts readily available from other engines used in passenger cars that
can be used to replace the truck-only parts used on this engine? If so, what
engines used parts that could be used to replace these?

Is the 413 just a boat anchor motor, simply not worth doing because it was a
POS right out of the factory?

This is the info I was looking for, I guess I should have been more clear in
my original question. I'm used to other forums where when someone asks
something like this, they get the facts, followed by the opinions. So I'll
try to be more precise....

See, I'm up against a wall trying to find a 4-bbl intake for the poly. So
I'm researching all my options here. Looks like getting a 4-bbl intake
landed here will be the equivalent to the total of all the rest of the parts
required to rebuild the engine. If I can't stay with something unique, then
she may wind up with a dime-a-dozen LA and be done with it, or just keep
running the engine that's in it now. and live with no power.

Thanks, guys...

- Ray
