Start up protection: packing the oil pump with Vaseline type petroleum jelly quickly primes the pump / system: open up the oil pump case to pack. Put a very small (tiny) amount of silicone sealer on the surface of the mating surface and install the gasket. Cover the pump shaft and O ring with oil. Put a small (tiny) amount of sealer on the block. Twist left and right while installing. 35 foot pounds torque the 4 bolts. You say pack, I didn't know if that was just for startup wear or holding something in place. > > On Aug 30, 2011, at 10:32 AM, "Gary H." < wrote: > > > If the old pump is worn, why not replace? Peace of mind for you anyway. If you do that, pack the new pump with Vasoline before you install it. > > > >> -------Original Message------- > >> > >> Would putting new oem replacement get pressure up when starting? My thoughts where I was getting "slip" in the old worn one. -- -- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
