The Dart gets modern.

Well, I was close to picking up the electronic ignition conversion kit for $233 from Chrysler when I decided to make one last attempt at finding the bits & pieces used. 4 hours of scavenging (70's and 80's stuff just isn't in our local wrecking yards), I managed to get everything I needed from 4 different vehicles for a total of $40. I guess 4 was my lucky number today.

Got it all home, and took about 1/2 hour to make the 2 partial distributors 1, and drop everything into place. Got lucky, she fired right up. Quick adjustment to set the timing, then shut it down and shorten up the wires. The harness I had scavenged was from a '76 Dodge pick-up, so the wires were substantially longer than I needed. Took about 45 minutes making a nice, clean, factory-looking harness and re-arranging things on my firewall to look more or less factory. The end result is much better response, WAY better low-end pull, and I can rev it up until that little 2-bbl carb just won't give me enough air to rev anymore. Best upgrade to the car so far, IMO. Short highway run for a show tomorrow, so we'll see how mileage is.

This is way too much fun. I'm running out of things to do. I better find me another one of these so I can have a project for next year.....  Anybody happen to have a '62 wagon looking for a new home?  :P
