Re: Welcome back member - Joey L.

The best Pontiac engine builder in the country is a guy named Bruce Fulper.  His place is called "Rock and Roll Engineering".  Here's a link to his web site.  He has many good tips that apply to ALL engines, not just Pontiacs.  His web site is long and fasinating, kind of like Gary's web site.  If anyone can help you, Bruce probably can.  If he can't he probably knows someone who can.

Here's the link:  http://www.pontiacpower.com/

Anyone reading the whole web site is bound to learn something they didn't already know, just like Gary's site.  Overall Gary's site is the best Mopar site on the web because he covers EVERYTHING.  This off-brand site (for us Mopar guys) is worth taking a look at because this guy builds engines making mucho HP with engines running 8.0 compression and feeding the engine 87 octane gas.  Many dyno tests to look at.  He builds his engines with stock cranks and rods for the most part, unless you want to spend more money.  His site is where I got the idea to build my engine low compression so it would run on 87 octane gas.  87 octane gas is always fresh and available at any gas station.  Try finding 93 octane gas around here.  They have quit selling 91 octane gas in the locality I'm in because no one buys it because it costs more money.  They only buy it if they have  to (manufacturer's recommendations) so it sits in the tank at the gas station for a long time.  Gas starts to deteriorate as soon as it is made.

I hope this info helps you out.  I think I pointed you in the right direction.  The rest is up to you.

Any info on the iron duke would be appreciated. I have one in my 1983 Jeep CJ-7.

Yeah, I missed you guys. I spent part of my summer vacation porting 318 Poly heads for a couple of friends. I bowl ported site member Jason Rhoades heads in which he did a fine job of finishing the port match etc. and this weekend I finished working on Wayne Borgen's heads. The head is the photo is Wayne's.

I also ported a head for a Bonneville car that is powered by a 331 hemi head adapted to a GM Iron Duke block. The owner is a machinist and is making some cool fuel injection pieces and roller rockers for it.
