Hi Doug,

The engine came from the factory in a 1968 car.  A 1969 model with a
383 would have an "F" for the model year.

Who knows what happens to a car between the time it is delivered to
its first owner and today.   Never assume the equipment on a car today
is what was installed at the factory when it was buing built.  A lot
can happen over the years, especially when someone is trying to keep a
car on the road.  Parts replacement for a daily driver is generally
based on cost - and the lower the better.   Originality almost never
comes into play.

Thus someone sometime between 1969 and 2011 replaced the dead engine
in his 1969 Charger with a useable 1968 383.
