Re: Jerky Transmission Engagement

These harsh engagement issues could also indicate cushion spring trouble in the rear clutch or a calibration problem in the rear clutch hydraulic circuit. If you find aluminum shavings in your pan your already in trouble!

I have the same problem with my 64 dodge polara push button Torqueflite.
Does not matter if cold or hot and idle at 500-600rpm  or less. Terrible clunk and lurch of car.  Car however shifts very smoothly on the road including step down linkage (passing gear?)
I have checked the u joints and rear end and am convinced it is the transmission.
Do I need to have transmission reworked or live with it?
I also notice that all buttons stay in when pressed, except drive which engages transmission but the button pops back out. Maybe it is just worn, since most used?

My 1963 Dodge 330 is fitted with an auto pushbutton transmission and

this? I'm worried about damage to the u-joints and the transmission
itself.
