Re: Opinion on ignition

Hello,

Nothing wrong with the ignition system you have, it just takes
maintenance. I agree, an original Mopar electronic system from a junk
yard would be a good choice if you don't mind the ignition box mounted
somewhere under the hood. If you want it stock looking but electronic
go with Pertronix but $$$.

If you only have a drop or two from the seal leave it alone. I don't
know about yours but in my 63 SF with a 383 by dropping the steering
link I can pull the pan and change the seal with the engine in the
car, I know, did it 3 times trying to get a seal to hold %*%$. There
are several different styles of replacement seals - good luck if you
try it.

There is no valve adjustment with the hydraulic lifters on the 383.

Do you have a manual for the car? If not it would be a very good
investment. You will want the original Mopar shop manual either the
book or on CD/DVD. Don't get any of the after market manuals, waste
of money. Try Ebay or do a Google search.

Sounds like you have a nice fun car that just needs to be taken care
of and driven.

Take Care
Dennis

I got a little droplet after running my car, slightly annoying, but on Chevys they weren't that bad with a two piece..just sucks changing them. I gotta take valve covers off soon and put new gaskets cause of leak and I'ma repaint while off. Does anyone know how to adjust valves? I'm thinking no one has never touched the motor and it's got 110k on it...if I had the money and knowledge for a rebuild I'd love to...

The guy I got it from just had it for a short time and didn't know...figured 110k is kindve a lot of a old mopar motor like that...any help would be great!
