Re: compressor question

a reed valve is what is used rather than a valve like you would find in a car,,, they amount to a metal strip similar to  a feeler gauge, it relies on it own spring tention to seal an opening, there are intake and exhaust air reed valves, and the metal strip just covers a hole in the head to allow one way air flow depending on if it is intake (sucking fresh air in to be compressed) or exhaust (pushing air into the supply tank),,,,,

the pic. above shows a reed valve block, and depending on which way it is installed would determine if it were exhaust or intake,,,,, the metal strips being held in place by the rivet/screw (two of them) are the reed valves

yes the electrical leads are ok, getting full 220v. Man theres just
not that many hours on the thing, if the reed valves or rings are bad
it sure didnt last long. Its about 6 years old, but total hours logged
arent that much.. ... on the other hand I will say that the motor
sounds different than it used to, it seems to have a rattly sound  to
it if you listen carefully. Its one of the sealed motors, maintenance
free whatever they call them.
What exactly is a reed valve??
