One thing I would add is to look down the carb and make sure that the throttle blades are at WOT when you make the adjustment. In my case, the throttle cable needed an adjustment to get the carb to WOT so that I could get the kickdown adjusted properly. The pedal to the floor may not necessarily = WOT if the cable isn't dialed in correctly first.
