Thanks folks for your input. I would not have thought about a lifter popping out. I will observe the valve trtain and trry the primer rod. Where does the oil guage fitting on the block get its pressure from? where can I check for pressure befor it gets to the oil sender fitting? I am trying to diagnose where the problem is before having to take the pan off. Any more input? Thanks..................MO

That might tell you if the pump is working or not. - Jim Jim Altemose, Long Island, NY '63 Polara 500 (Max Wedge) '63 Polara 500 (383) '65 Belvedere I (Street Wedge) '71 Bronco On Fri, May 6, 2011 at 12:01 PM, Joseph Bitterman <furyrestored@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:
had a similiar thing happen to me and the felt that goes on the crank at the timing chain dissintegrated and found its way to the oil pump pickup!engine was running fine one minute and then started ticking and oil pressure dropped to zero i pulled the oil pan and found the felt was packed in the screen at the pick up thank god i was at home in the garage when this happened or it would have definately been a bad deal which i still had alot of time invested and such but luckily caught it right away and no damage done--- On Fri, 5/6/11, Stan Kafouse <skafouse@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:From: Stan Kafouse <skafouse@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Mopar 383 engine tech To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Date: Friday, May 6, 2011, 11:43 AM Try a new pump or drop pan to see if pick up is "sludged" etc. up. Had the same thing happen to me new pump fixed it. Oil goes from pump to passenger side lifter galley. Oil feeds mains from pass. lifter galley then up to cam. Oil goes from pass. galley across rear of block to drivers side lifters. --- On Fri, 5/6/11, MO ( Steve Mick) <micher@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > From: MO ( Steve Mick) <micher@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: Mopar 383 engine tech > To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx > Date: Friday, May 6, 2011, 5:23 AM > > Hay all, today I got back to tinkering with the 64 Sport > Fury with a late 60's 383.
