Re: Radiators

Jay,
You asked for some insight, so here comes some free advise.
I just spent $2K to relocate my battery to the trunk and install a custom built triple pass aluminum crossflow radiator that runs from frame rail to frame rail. in my 65 Satellite. I removed a custom built aluminum stock size radiator that did not cool my engine. I would assume the previous owner had to do some cutting and modification on the radiator support wall to mount the radiator. If that is the case it too would have to be replaced. Cooling is an major issue when dealing with any "antique" vehicle, especially with modified engines. You would be shocked at a car show to find out that allot of them have cooling issues, regardless of "brands" My best advise if your vehicle runs at a normal operating temp, be happy and pleasantly surprised and leave well enough alone.

Subject: Radiators

Hey everyone,

So when I bought my 64 Newport Convertible the previous owner had put in a big aftermarket rad, so big he had to relocate the battery to the trunk. I'd like to put it back under to hood, so have been looking around for an original size rad.

I've found a recently recored rad locally, part number 1686201. This appears to be a 22" wide rad from a 57/8 Plymouth...just wondering if anyone knows if it will fit my 64 reasonally stock like.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Jay
