This is on a 64 Fury 383 with cobbled up under hood wireing.issue #1-points distributor-wireing to the input side of ballast resister. We know that when engaging the starter, voltage to all systems is reduced. However there is a wire that maintains full voltage even when the starter is cranking . That wire needs to be on the input side of the ballast resister, so that it gets full voltage even when cranking. Where does that wire come from? Through the bulkhead or from the starter relay or???
issue #2 fairly thin , chrome rectangular voltage regulator mounted on the firewall with a 2 prong plug on the front side . No other wires. Take off the plug and test both prongs on the regulator with the ign. switch on , should one of the prongs have power to it? One prong goes to a post on the alternator and the other prong goes to another post on the alternator. No other wires to the alternator Shop manual wireing diagram is too much for me to make out.
I THINK--the full time 12 volt wire to the ballast resister comes from the starter relay, but I cannot find a ignition switched connection that does not reduce voltage when cranking. HELP!!!......Thanks for any input...................MO
