Re: Oxidation removal

You are right. Imperfections will stand out, if it isn't sanded, and polished, before re-anodizing. Imperfections stand out on powder coated parts as well, if they aren't repaired before powder coating..

Rather than reanodize, clear powder coat works very well. Did that to the grill on my '65 Belvedere.

Anodizer and others said that any imperfection in the metal surface, referring to pits, would really stand out with anodizing. Akron Don Gallimore

It need to be re-anodized.
The corrosion will only re-occur if it's not done.
You can slow it down with wax, sealers, etc.
But it will probably eventually eat it up if you do nothing.

I have some small white blemishes on my aluminum grill that my boss claims is
oxidation. Any thoughts on a safe way to remove this. I am in the process of detailing and polishing up all of my chrome, stainless etc. while the car is finally getting a new paint job.
I never paid much attention to it before but now that it is off of the car
and on the work bench now is the time to clean it up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
