Contact the dealer he bought it from to see if they have records from 1970 still available to get the vin #, the dealer that sold my 1970 Challenger still had the records in storage and it took them about a month to get to it but I was able to get a copy of the transaction. Then contact the DMV to find the history of the car. Your local police should be able to run the vin # also with a lot less attitude! When ever I get a car I have the local police run the vin for a history they never asked for any payment ether. My Grandad had an original 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE that he bought brand new in Long Beach CA. He sold it in the late 80s to his UPS guy (for pretty cheap I am sure) against my strongest 10 year old boy wishes and it was gone. Being a bit nostalgic I am thinking about trying to find that car again. Does anyone even know the first step to go about trying to find a particular car, where I could find the VIN, etc? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
