If you're asking about pinions, here is what I know off the top of my 
head.  The 742's had the courser splined pinion and it was also smaller 
in diameter than the 489 chunk which had finer splines and a wider 
diameter pinion shaft.  Sorry, I don't have the spline count and shaft 
diameter available right at the moment but if that's the info you're 
looking for I think I can come up with it.
