The black threaded rod from the hardware store looks "right" to me. What's the stock stuff look like to you? It took me a while, but I finally got my 63 Polara back on the road. I'm very excited. It's a 383 and I swapped the 2 barrel for a 65 Carter AFB 4 barrel. I was surprised to find that the air cleaner hold down rod that threads into the carburetor is too short. I figured I could just use the 2 barrel rod in the 4 barrel, but it comes up short. It's 4 5/8 inches long and threaded on the bottom and the top. Does anyone know a source for a longer one? I imagine I can get some threaded rod at Home Depot or Lowes, but I'd prefer to have the right part. As always, thanks. - Jim Jim Altemose, Long Island, NY '63 Polara 500 (Max Wedge) '63 Polara 500 (383) '65 Belvedere I (Street Wedge) '71 Bronco ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
