I measured my stock springs on my 64 Dodge B body yesterday and the front part measured 20" . They must be stock springs, there is no front spacer. Herb is well informed, but something doesn't jibe--- The Question continues...................MO

That is why 4s & 5s that use a 22 in distance, need the spacer to compensate for the shorter spring length between the dowel or axle center & center of the front spring bushing to make the SS springs work. As MO stated less spring wrap up in front of the axle makes better pinion geometry I used the 3800lb on my 63 and of-course no spacers.
