In-Car Pan Removal Question

I just got my 63 Sport Fury with a 383 and 4-speed back together and ran 
it for the cam breakin.  Everything is going great except I have two 
leaks:

Oil pan is leaking in the front right corner where it meets the timing 
gear cover.

My rear oil seal is leaking.

I really don't want to pull the engine, is there any reason I can't 
remove the pan with the engine in the car?  

Any secrets to installing the rear oil seal?  I've put in two and I have 
had two leakers, sure looks like I am doing something wrong.
