Gary,

the smooth column cover can be installed on an automatic/column shift car if 
you are going to a floor shifter or a 4 speed.  Console 65s (coronet 500s) 
have a smooth column cover.  64 and earlier with the pushbuttons on the dash 
should also have the smooth column cover.
